The construction industry is one of the largest consumers of natural resources and energy worldwide, contributing significantly to environmental degradation and carbon emissions. In recent years, sustainable construction materials have gained considerable attention due to increasing concerns regarding climate change, resource depletion, and environmental sustainability. Bamboo has emerged as a highly promising sustainable construction material because of its rapid growth rate, renewability, high strength-to-weight ratio, low environmental impact, and wide availability in tropical and subtropical regions. This article presents a comprehensive review of the use of bamboo in construction applications, including structural components, housing systems, reinforcement materials, flooring, roofing, and interior design. The study examines the mechanical properties, environmental benefits, economic advantages, and limitations associated with bamboo construction. The findings indicate that bamboo can significantly reduce construction costs, embodied energy, and carbon emissions while providing adequate strength and durability for various engineering applications. The article also discusses preservation techniques, modern processing technologies, standardization challenges, and future prospects of bamboo-based sustainable construction systems
