The nature of iodine oxygen bonds in hypervalent 10-I-3 iodine compounds

Iodine oxygen bonds of hypervalent 10-I-3 iodine(III) compounds with T-shaped geometry were investigated using analysis of the Cambridge Crystallographic Database and ab initio molecular orbital calculations. The statistical analysis of the I-O bond lengths revealed an average of 2.14 and a strong correlation between the two bond lengths.
