Preparation of Carrageenan Oligosaccharides and Study on Its Biological Activity

The degradation condition for carrageenan,the physico-chemical property and anticancer activity of carrageenan oligosaccharides(CGOS) obtained were studied.The results showed that when 1% carrageenan was degraded with 0.5% sulphuric acid at 60℃,the products were uniform and the CGOS were inequality of size.The inhibition rate of colon carcinoma cell DLD1 by CGOS was much higher than that by carrageenan.It provides experimental reference to widen the application of carrageenan.
