Objective To analyze the clinical and prognostic characteristics of single hormone receptor positive breast cancer. Methods Five hundred and sixty eihgtⅠ—Ⅲ breast cancer patients include 80 ER+/PR-subjects and 58 ER-/PR+ subjects admitted to Naval General Hospital from January 2000 to December 2004 were enrolled in this study. The clinical and prognostic character were compared. Results ER-/PR + tumors were found more frequently in younger, premenopausal women(P0.05).Survival analyses showed no difference between ER+/PR-and ER-/PR+ tumor in terms of disease-free interval and overall survival(P0.05).However,when compared with the double-negative phenotype, the ER+/PR-patients showed an association with better outcome but no survival advantage was detected in case of ER-/PR+ tumors. When compared with the double-positive phenotype, the ER-/PR+ group showed worse outcome whereas no such survival difference was detected in ER+/PR-tumors.Conclusion ER-/PR+ tumors are found more frequently in younger, premenopausal women, and its outcome is close to double-negative tumors;whereas ER+/PR-tumors outcome is close to double-positive tumors.
