Determination of Total Alkaloids in Coptis Chinensis by Acidic dye Colorimetry

Objective:To determine the total alkaloids content of in Coptis chinensis.Method: Acidic dye colorimetry was used to determine the alkaloids in Coptis chinensis.Result: The concentration of berberine hydrochloride showed good linearity within the range of 4.176～16.68 μg/ml,r = 0.9997,the average recovery was 100.1%,RSD=1.84%,the total alkaloids from Coptis chinensis were determined as 0.112 g/g.Conclusion: The established method is simple,highly sensitive,accurate and reproducible,which can be used for determination of the total alkaloids in Coptis chinensis.
