used the staining score generated by this algorithm to compare the extent of fibrosis between the different animal groups using student t-test and we set the p-value at 0.05.RESULTS: : Ligated kidneys showed increased IHC scores for Axl and vimentin but decreased intensity for E-cadherin, which is compatible with EMT development.The findings were accompanied by intense fibrosis development, as expected.At day +7, both experimental groups developed a similar mild to moderate degree of fibrosis in the ligated kidneys, as depicted in Figure 1.Subsequently, fibrosis only increased in the vehicle exposed mice.Accordingly, at day +14, the BGB-324 treatment resulted in an approximately 55% decrease of the fibrosis staining score as compared to the vehicle only exposed animals (p<0.001;t-test).This is also demonstrated in Figure 1.The antifibrotic effect was also visible in the Masson's trichrome staining.CONCLUSIONS: The Axl receptor tyrosine kinase pathway represents a novel and promising drug target for the pharmacologic prevention and therapy of kidney fibrosis.
