SYNTHESIS OF CATIONIC EMULSION OF POLY(VINYL ACETATE METHYL METHACRYLATE DIMETHYLAMINOETHYL METHACRYLATE) AND APPLICATION IN PAPER MAKING

A series of cationic emulsion copolymers based on vinyl acetate (VAC), methylmethacrylate(MMA) and dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate(DM) were synthesized by means of emulsifier free emulsion polymerization. The stability and convertibility of emulsions were determined. The optimum condition of synthesis of copolymer was discovered. This cationic copolymer emulsion with APC(aliuminium polychloride) was applied in paper making. When quantity of the mixed emulsion is 1.0%, the properties of paper are the best.
