Objective To study the expression of Toll-like receptors in patients with condyloma acuminatum. Methods Immunoflurescent two-color flow cytometry was used to determine the expression of TLR1,TLR2 and TLR4 on CD14~+ monocytes in 34 patients with condyloma acuminatum and 33 normal controls. Results The expression of TLR4 on CD14+ monocytes was 4.8%±1.7%,significantly higher than that of controls (2.6%±1.0%)(P0.001). Expression of TLR1 was 11.8%±3.8%)significantly lower than that of controls(16.4%±5.1%)(P0.001). While the level TLR2 expressed in the patients was.90.8%±6.6% showing no significant difference as compared with that of the controls(90.4%±6.7%) (P0.05). Conclusion TLR4 on monocyte may play an important role in recognition of virus, enhancement of specific signal transduction, initiation inherent antiviral immune response in human body.
