Plasticity of Metals and Mendeleev’s Periodic Law

The laws of localized plastic flow in various metals are considered. The relations between the plasticity characteristics of a metal and its position in the periodic table and its lattice characteristics are found. A model is proposed to explain the nature of these laws using the concepts of dislocation drag by an electron gas.
