Vasculogenesis is the formation of blood vessels from endothelial precursor cells, hemangioblasts, whereas angiogenesis is the growth of new vessels through the sprouting of pre-existing vasculature (1–3) .The mechanisms underlying vascular development have been an intriguing problem for biologists and medical scientists alike.
