Ketamine - from anaesthetic to antidepressant?

Recent human trials have demonstrated that ketamine may also work as a remarkably rapid antidepressant. Patients with major treatment- resistant depression were administered a single IV dose of ketamine (0.5 mg/kg). Patients showed a significant improvement in depressive symptoms within hours of treatment. (non-author abstract)
