This paper describes a novel method of copper electrolysis, called the suspension electrolysis, which enables the electrolytic refining process of copper to operate continuously at very high rates with a small electrolytic cell. After a few preliminary experiments it was confirmed that the suspension electrode was applicable to copper electrolysis. A disk-like cell in which copper particles were suspended by vibration of the cell sepa. rately in a lower cathode chamber and an upper anode chamber divided with a diaphragm was made and studied. Data of the cell capable of the electrolysis at 50A/dm2, 2-3V, and at 80°C were presented.
