Abstract
The recent pandemic, with its disruption to healthcare education, thrust virtual simulation into the spotlight. Virtual simulation provides opportunities for engagement and realism, and it is quickly becoming an essential part of the educator's toolkit. Adopting virtual simulation as a teaching strategy needs a thoughtful approach; simulation pedagogy needs to be applied. This paper outlines ten tips for effectively integrating virtual simulation in the curriculum. The list was compiled after a review of the literature and from the authors' years of experience developing numerous virtual simulations, teaching with these tools and researching virtual simulation with learners, faculty and administrators.
