Late Complications of Autogenous Vein and Dacron Graft Anastomosis in Renal and Lower Extremity Reconstruction

Five late complications of dacron and autogenous vein graft anastomoses used in renal and lower extremity reconstruction were studied. Three patients had recurrent stenoses and 2 patients had anastomotic aneurysms. Surgical treatment was required in all patients. One patient developed aorto-renal-duo denal fistula and died in the immediate postoperative period owing to multiple organ failure. In the remaining 4 patients, secondary procedures were success ful. In patients in whom direct dacron and vein anastomoses have been con structed, careful late follow-up is essential to detect and manage these complications.
