The object of this paper is to study the adsorption behaviors of arsenic(Ⅴ) in the activity hydrous ferric oxide.The influential factors such as iron/arsenate ratio,reaction time,reaction temperature,solution pH,competitive-anions in solution and aging time on removal of arsenic(Ⅴ) were discussed.The optimum condition for arsenic(Ⅴ) removal from water by hydrous ferric oxide was obtained.The results showed that the adsorption isotherm of arsenic(Ⅴ) on hydrous ferric oxide could be described by the Langmuir equations.The adsorption kinetic data could be described by the Lagergren second-order rate equation.The F-and Cl-in the solution had almost no effect on the adsorption of arsenic(Ⅴ) on hydrous ferric oxide,but PO3-4,SiO2-3 and SO2-4 caused arsenic(Ⅴ) removal percentage decrease.
