Fatty acids composition of scallop viscera and scallop skirt oil

Scallop viscera and scallop skirt oil were extracted by Soxhlet,and fatty acid composition was analyzed with gas chromatography.The results showed that the oil content of scallop viscera was higher than that of scallop skirt.Moreover,the contents of unsaturated fatty acids in scallop viscera and scallop skirt were 68.10% and 55.29%,respectively.Especially,compared with the total content of EPA and DHA of some kinds of fishes(12%~42%),such as deep sea fish oil(31%),those of EPA and DHA in scallop viscera and scallop skirt were 44.12% and 39.77%,respectively.Therefore,the scallop viscera was the excellent material to produce oil.
