Steady-state response of infinite beam on Kelvin foundation under moving loads

To evaluate the responses of highways, bridges and railways under traffic loading, and based on the principle of linear superposition, the Green's function of infinite beam on Kelvin foundation was obtained by means of integral transform. Various kinds of load were discussed, including moving point load, moving line load and static load. And the corresponding beam deflection was expressed in terms of the Green's function. A procedure was proposed for computing the integrals obtained here. As an illustration of the numerical evaluation of the integrals, numerical results for moving point load were presented. And the effects of foundation damping and load moving speed on beam deflection were discussed in detail. When the foundation damping is relatively small, the maximum deflection increases with the increase of load moving speed. But with the increase of the foundation damping, the maximum deflection decreases with the increase of load moving speed. The asymmetry of beam deflection increases with the increase of foundation damping and/or load moving speed.
