The image segmentation technology and its application in digital image processing

Image segmentation is one of the hardest tasks in digital image processing.Up to now,there exists no general image segmentation method for all kinds to images.Beginning with an introduction to the basic principles of image segmentation technology,this paper gives a whole summarization of the typical image segmentation technologies.And based on this,applications of image segmentation technology in engine testing,bio-medicine and remote-sensing imagery fields are presented.In the end,a prospect for the development tendency of image segmentation is given in this paper.
