Silicon photonics: Optical connectivity at 25 Gbps and beyond

This article consists of a collection of slides from the author's conference presentation on silicon photonics that deploy optical connectivity at 25 Gbps and beyond. Some of the specific topics discussed include: the motivation behind deploying these technologies; CMOS photonics technologies; light sources for CMOS photonics; descriptions of CMOS photonics transmitters and receivers; optical transmission channels; and future technology directions for silicon photonics.
