Pulse tube refrigeration systems have been developed by using unique multiple stage phase shift mechanism and novel compressor technology to produce refrigeration at 4 K, 40 K and 80 K. The developments in IGC-APD on the pulse tube Cryocooler systems have focused primarily on refrigeration capacity, temperature stability, performance repeatability, as well as long life of whole refrigeration system. The goal is to provide reliable, efficient, vibration free and long life cryocoolers for next generation cooling system in MRI and other applications. This paper describes the two-stage pulse tube cryocoolers designed for MRI cooling and their performance characteristics.
