Antiferroelectric NaNbO 3 ceramics were fabricated by solid state reaction. Additive compounds of Ca(Mg 1/3 Nb 2/3 )O 3 were evaluated. The dielectric and electromechanical properties are evaluated. NaNbO 3 ceramics were sintered at 1050-1400 °C. By 2-6 % of Ca(Mg 1/3 Nb 2/3 )O 3 addition, the sinterabilities of the ceramics were improved. X-ray diffraction reveals that the superlattice reflection characteristic of anti-ferroelectrics was observed. Especially, the superlattice reflection was observed over a wide sintering temperature range in the 2% Ca(Mg 1/3 Nb 2/3 )O 3 added NaNbO 3 ceramics. The 2% Ca(Mg 1/3 Nb 2/3 )O 3 added NaNbO 3 sintered at 1100 - 1200 °C draw the constricted P-E hysteresis loops and s-E loops with rapid expansion due to switching. These facts indicate that the antiferroelectric properties of NaNbO 3 ceramics were stabilized by the addition of (Mg 1/3 Nb 2/3 )O 3 .
