OSA is an extremely common condition and is associated with a variety of adverse health consequences. OSA is heterogeneous, that is, individuals with similar severity of disease may manifest with different symptoms. One common statistical approach to understanding this heterogeneity is cluster analysis, which identifies subgroups of a population such that individuals within the same group are as similar as possible with respect to certain characteristics (eg, symptoms), and individuals in different groups are as dissimilar as possible.
