摘要
Despite a decline in stroke mortality rates in many countries, the burden of the disease continues to increase worldwide.1 In recent years, several reports suggested a decrease in the average age at onset of ischemic stroke in the overall population. This can be interpreted, at least in part, as evidence of an increased incidence of stroke in young adults.2–4 The upper age limit defining young strokes varies in the literature, but individuals aged 55 years or younger account for 15% of all strokes.5
