摘要
The disruption of metal homeostasis is known to be associated with neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer's disease (AD), Parkinson's disease (PD), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Revealing metal dyshomeostasis and its molecular mechanism under pathological conditions is essential to regulate the disturbed biological systems and to develop drugs for potential treatment of the disease. Pathometallomics is a concept derived from metallomics and metalloproteomics, designating for the study of metals (or metalloids) and their associated proteins under pathological conditions. In this chapter, we overview the current knowledge on pathometallomics in AD, PD, ALS, and ASD as main neurodegenerative diseases.
