摘要
This paper reports a novel conception of the high-performance double spiral electromagnetic pump (DS-EMP) to efficiently drive liquid metal (LM) fluid with minimum volume. The mathematic model and experimental test methods have been adopted to investigate the driving characteristics of DS-EMP. The result shows that the performance of DS-EMP can be regulated by changing the number of the spiral flow channel. Increasing the number of spiral flow channels is conducive to achieving a high-pressure head. Reducing the number of spiral flow channels is beneficial for obtaining a large flow rate. The experimental result indicates that it can provide the maximum pressure head of 76.5 kPa @200A and the corresponding maximum flow rate of 2.19 L/min with a compact volume of 0.8 L. The LM cooling loop driven by DS-EMP was established to achieve efficient cooling of 156 W/cm2 (755 W) heat flux with a flow rate of 1.86 L/min.
