Studies of Hydroxylation of Phenol Catalyzed by Inorganic Salts

Hydroxylation of phenol with H2O2to catechol and hydroquinone utilizing inorganic salts as catalyst was studied,and the selectivity of catechol and hydroquinone as well as the conversion of phenol were about83%and40%respectively.The efˉfects of catalyst amount,PH,concentration of phenol,reaction time and temperature upon hydroxylating were discussed.
