Citation Analysis of English Majors' Graduation Paper:Taking Changzhou University as an Example

To understand the present situation of college students' citation of references,we randomly sampled 280 graduation papers of Changzhou university(Year 2004-2010) and adopted citation analysis method to calculate the quantity of citation,the type of citation,the language of citation and yearly distribution of citation.The results show that there has been a steady increase in the quantity of citation;the citation rate of books(72.4%) is markedly higher than that of journals(21.2%) and other sources(6.4%);the citation amount in Chinese is higher than that of in English;the highest citation rate of books and journals both in English and Chinese is in 6-10 years after their publication.The citation quality of graduation papers has improved.However,not only students' awareness of citation standardization but also their ability of information absorption in English are expected to be enhanced.
