The Morphological feature of Urethra and Penis in a Male Alpaca

In order to researth morphological feature of urethral obstruction lead to vesical rupture, the urethra and penis of male alpacas were studied by macroscopic anatomy and paraffin section, and compared with that of ruminants. The results showed that the urethra in the male alpaca were divided into pelvic portion and penis portion, the penis of urethra were close to subcutaneous, and clingy to osseous symphysis pelvis, so both trauma and hemorrhage lead to urethral obstruction; the penis formed a sigmoid flexure behind the scrotum. Histology study were found mucosa membrane of the pelvic portion were transitional epithelium, both corpus cavernosum of penis and corpus cavernosum urethra were similar structurally, there was a layer of cartilage under the skin of glans penis.
