To contrast the therapeutic efficacy and safety of bisoprolol and metoprolol in treating low-grade and moderate-grade hypertension. Methods:A total of 46 patients with low-grade and moderate-grade hypertension were admitted. They were randomly averagely divided into bisoprolol group and metoprolol group, only taken bisopro- lol once or metoprolol twice each day respectively. The therapeutic efficacy and safety of two groups were compared on reducing blood pressure evaluated by ABPM after 8 weeks. Results:The total efficacy rate of bisoprolol and meto- prolol was 91. 3% and 73. 9% respectively(P0. 05) .The side-effect of bisoprolol(13. 1%)was lower than that of metoprolol(21. 7%,P0. 01) .No side-effects for blood glucose and lipid were found for two groups. Conclusion: Bisoprolol can effectively reduces blood pressure and does not effecting blood glucose and lipid in patients with low- grade and moderate-grade hypertension.
