"Mimicry":Displacing the Representation of the Authority——The Theme of Mimicry in V.S. Naipaul's A Bend in the River

This article discusses the theme of mimicry in V.S.Naipaul's A Bend in the River about the central Africa area.In this fiction,Naipaul deals with the theme of mimicry and describes the mimicry behaviors of the Big Man(the President)and the common African people.The choice,which they have to make,derives from doubling the white man's image.In so doing,they want to displace the representation of the authority.However,blindly mimicry couldn't bring success.This offers some practical instructions to the Third World countries and people.
