Modifying the Mechanical Properties of Ramie and Its Blends

Compared with other natural cellulose fibers, ramie's handle is harsh and rigid and its elastic recovery is poor. Ramie's undesirable properties affect its performance and comfort during wear. A considerable amount of work has been done at our Institute to ameliorate the undesirable properties of ramie and ramie-blended products by mod ifying the chemical structure and surface properties.
