Scattering of [001] axial channelling He particles at misfit dislocations in epitaxially grown bi-crystals of PbS/PbSe was studied. The cross section of dechannelling at the dislocation for [001] axial channelling particles was measured to be proportional to the square root of the particle energy. The direct scattering of aligned particles at the dislocation was detected for [001] axial channelling and the cross section was found to be proportional to E -0.9 ±0.2 , where E is the energy of the aligned He particles. The cross section of the direct scattering at dislocation was explained by a model where the particles dechannelled at dislocation are backscattered by thermally vibrating atoms in an atomic chain.
