This section describes the preparations and applications of metal nanoparticles with the assistance of microwave irradiation. The green syntheses of single-component and multi-component metal nanoparticles with controlled morphologies using microwave irradiation are emphasized in this section. The syntheses of single-component metal nanoparticles with sphere morphology and 1-D structures in colloidal solution under microwave condition are introduced in Sections 7.2 and 7.3, respectively. Section 7.3 is focused on the preparation of multicomponent metal nanoparticles with and without the supports. An example of mass production of metal nanoparticles is given in Section 7.4.
