The boiler system using water as the fluid is boiled to produce steam. Prior to use, the water must be heated in advance using economizer. Economizer to utilize the remaining exhaust gases out of the boiler before being released into the atmosphere, because the flue gas has a temperature which is still quite high. Economizer should be designed as optimal as possible, so that during operation can produce optimal feed water temperature.
This study aims to determine the optimal design of pipe economizer. By determining the optimal design of pipe economizer, the outgoing flue gases will be absorbed by the pipes economizer optimally. So the temperature of feed water into the boiler would be maximized.
By collecting data from a company in Purwakarta, then do the calculations for determining the optimal design economizer. This process begins with collecting data on the specifications and specification boiler economizer is used, as well as the temperature of the fluid flowing through the boiler and economizer. From these data, then perform the calculations for the design of pipe economizer.
Based on the calculations have been done, then the values obtained economizer effectiveness by 57.94% to 66.78%, a large maximum heat transfer rate of 779.285 kJ / s and the number of tubes / row 24.215.
