Nanocolorants with solvent blue 36 encapsulated into polystyrene were prepared by miniemulsion polymerization.Effects of surfactant content, dye content, hydrophobe content and homogenization time on the morphologies of nanocolorants were studied. The nanocolorants were characterized by transmission electron microscopy(TEM)and dynamic light scattering(DLS),The results show that nanocolorants with particle size below 100 nm,unimodal particle distribution and shell-core structure can be obtained when the content of polymerizable surfactant HEC16 is within 13.3 mmol/L~20 mmol/L,the homogenization time is 20 min,the content of solvent blue 36 is 10% relative to monomer mass, and dodecyl mercaptan(DDM)is used as hydrophobe/These nanocolorants are very applicable for aqueous ink-jet inks, color resists,high-performance coloration for polymers, and for electrophotographic toners.
