With red phosphorus flame retardant masterbatch (RPM440H) as halogen-free flame retardant, recycled nylon was flame retardant modified. By means of twin-screw injecting processing and the addition of the flame retardants of different component, electrical leakage resistant and flame retardant reinforced nylon compounds were prepared. The modification results of the recycled nylon by the different variety of the recycled nylon, the content of flame retardant (RPM440H), synergic flame retardant and glass fiber were compared, and the optimum process parameters and formulation were determined. The results showed red phosphorus flame retardant masterbatch RPM440H had better flame retardant effect on various kinds of recycled nylon (PA66, PA6), the flame retardant reinforced nylon compound prepared by this technique showed excellent electric, flame retardant, and mechanical properties. Besides, the compounds satisfied the requirements of the comparative tracking index (CTI) of the low pressure electronics and electrical appliance, and were successfully applied to Zhengtai, Delixi, Renmin Electrical and other low pressure electrical leakage protecting instruments.
