The assay of sparfloxacin in plasma by the complexometry with Cu~(2+)

Objective To establish a complexometric titration with Cu2+ for determining the concentration of sparfloxacin in plasma.Methods A stable complex was generated when appropriate amount of cuprum ions and sparfloxacin admixed,which enhanced the sensitivity of the tested drug.The concentration of drug in plasma was determined at 297 nm by ultraviolet spectrophotometry.Results In the range of 0.6-10 μg/ml,the linearity of sparfloxacin was good(r=0.991 8)with detection limit of 0.015 9 μg/ml.The recovery rate was 98.82%-112.5%.The within day precision at high,medium and low concentrations was 0.67%,1.15%,7.54%,while day-to-day precisions was 0.51%,2.75%,5.94%.Conclusion This method is fast,convenient and accurate for detecting the blood concentrations of sparfloxacin in the clinical.
