摘要
Abstract: In the contemporary media landscape, YouTube has established itself as a pivotal platform for disseminating both prerecorded and live entertainment content. Its influence is multifaceted and substantial, impacting content creators, viewers, and the very nature of the content itself. This phenomenon parallels the historical influence of radio and television on various art forms . Wayang kulit performance, a cherished cultural practice valued for its entertainment and educational dimensions with a centuries-old tradition, is no exception. However, the proliferation of YouTube and similar digital platforms has arguably shortened user attention spans, presenting a significant challenge for dalangs seeking to captivate their online audience. Despite these challenges , wayang kulit performances retain their core essence through the enduring presence of traditionally identifiable characters. Notably, this tradition embraces modifications and innovations within its core components and interludes. This article delves into the innovative strategies employed by dalangs in navigating the digital landscape. By leveraging insights gleaned from in-person interviews and analyses of YouTube performances, it examines how the interplay between opportunities and challenges presented by the digital realm fosters a dynamic environment that compels dalangs to adapt and flourish. Ultimately, this article contributes to a deeper understanding of the ongoing evolution of wayang kulit in the digital age .
