In this paper, we present the tribological properties of the new perfluoropolyether (PFPE) lubricant named LTA-30 which has a different main chain structure from the conventional lubricant, Fomblin Z-Tetraol. Disks lubricated with this lubricant exhibit desirable attributes including lower friction and lower surface energy than the conventional lubricant. We have performed component level and drive level tests to investigate the relation between these attributes and tribological performance
