One-Step Hydroamidation of a Schiff Base with Trichlorosilane

Abstract We have found that the treatment of a Schiff base (2) with trichlorosilane and chloroacetyl chloride results in a highly active chloroacetamide herbicide (1) in an excellent yield. This one-step hydroamidation reaction of a Schiff base is a useful synthetic method.
