SMALL ANGLE SCATTERING AND STRUCTURE FACTOR NEUTRON MEASUREMENTS OF AN AMORPHOUS Al70Si17Fe13 ALLOY

The structure of the new Al70Si17Fe13 metallic glass possesses quite a strong chemical order and appears to be significantly ordered over radial distances as large as 15 Å. The samples studied here were non homogeneous as they contained 1 to 2 % in volume of disordered - presumably pure - aluminium. Comparison is made with data available from related crystalline and quasi-crystalline structures.
