摘要
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) develops from traumatic events. For several decades, acute coronary syndrome, including myocardial infarction, has been recognized as potentially traumatic, due to its sudden, painful onset and the feelings of life-threatening and helplessness it provokes. Several studies have been conducted to estimate the prevalence of PTSD following a myocardial infarction as well as to determine predisposing factors, to identify and treat those affected, and even prevent it in those at higher risk. The aim of this article is to raise awareness of this issue and provide primary care physicians with the keys to identifying affected patients and directing them to appropriate care.
