摘要
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a cornerstone of modern chemical sciences, catalyzing a significant methodological transition from traditional trial-and-error experimentation to a highly sophisticated, data-driven model of scientific discovery. This transition is necessitated by the exponential growth of chemical datasets generated through spectroscopy, high-throughput experimentation, and complex quantum-mechanical simulations. By integrating core frameworks such as machine learning (ML), deep learning (DL), natural language processing (NLP), and reinforcement learning (RL) into chemical workflows, researchers can analyze high-dimensional chemical spaces to identify hidden correlations and make highly accurate predictions regarding molecular behaviors and synthetic pathways. This chapter provides a detailed, balanced, and peer-reviewed analysis of AI's integration across the chemical disciplines. We rebalance the scientific narrative by presenting chemistry-specific deep dives into machine learning interatomic potentials, density functional theory (DFT) surrogate models, retrosynthesis planning, automated spectral interpretation, and robotics-driven self-driving laboratories, providing a comparable depth to drug discovery workflows. Furthermore, we discuss four landmark case studies (AlphaFold 2, Halicin discovery, DDR1 kinase inhibitors, and materials discovery via failed experiments) to illustrate worked examples of AI successes. Finally, we address critical domain-specific limitations, including data scarcity, publication bias from unpublished negative results, poor extrapolation in chemical space, and the necessity of Explainable AI (XAI) to overcome black-box architectures, concluding with future outlooks and the integration of quantum computing.
