The System of Journalism Education in the Conditions of Global Media Transformation

The changes related to the role of journalism in the life of society activate changes in the system of vocational education. The authors made an attempt to comprehend the concept of journalism education, taking into account theoretical ideas about journalism. The concepts of “journalistic education”, “theory of journalism”, “mass information”, “mass communication”, “media communications” are considered in the context of the state of media reality. The analysis that was carried out allows us to conclude that the system of journalism education is always sensitive to changes in journalism and is based on the results of media space research. The article considers the genesis of journalism education in the context of building its methodology, which is based on journalism as a mass information activity, reflected upon by media researchers. The Internet has led to a global transformation of the media space, where journalists today act on an equal footing with numerous other subjects of information activity. The processes associated with large­scale changes in the strategy of creating and disseminating information dramatically altered the system of journalism education.
