The Emergence of robotics in liver interventional radiology: Navigating New Frontiers

The evolution of contemporary medicine has increasingly favored minimally invasive techniques over traditional open surgeries. Robotic systems were initially introduced in neurosurgery in the late 1980 s, but the field of interventional radiology (IR) has experienced a robust and continual expansion in the complexity and number of robotic-guided procedures over the last two decades [1,2], particularly in the liver [3]. The British Society of Interventional Radiology has consistently emphasized this progression since their annual meeting of 2014 [4].
