Multihop Device-to-Device (MH-D2D) communication increases the network throughput by increasing the proximity distance of devices for 5G cellular networks. In this article, a relay selection scheme is proposed for MH-D2D communication in dynamic network scenario for 5G cellular networks. This scheme is based on semi-base station centric where the participating devices calculate the different parameters and send to the base station. The base station selects two devices who wish to work as a relay among the available devices based on some predefined criteria. The selected devices work on alternative approach i.e if one selected relay will leave the network due to any reason, then the alternative device acts as a relay. Numerical result shows that proposed scheme gives the significant result over the other relay selection schemes.
