A Model of Teacher Education Reform in USA: the Professional Development School

The professional development school——A model of teacher education reform in USA, is to establish a school university partnership. This partnership has played an active role in the training of new professional teachers and in the continuing education of the mid career teachers. On the basis of professional development schools, Trinity University has carried out Master of Art (MAT) programme, a 5 year education including a one year long practice, which has gradually replaced the traditional 4 year programme for pre job training. The success of the programme in fostering high quality normal students has set a good example for us Chinese universities.
