Advances in the studies on rhoptry proteins of Toxoplasma gondii

The recent advances were reviewed in the studies of rhoptry proteins(ROPs) secreted by the rhoptry of Toxoplasma gondii involved in invasion of host cell by T.gondii and virulence.The achievements in the studies of some ROPs as candidates for the development of vaccines against toxoplasmosis were summarized.The potencies of ROPs for the development of vaccines against toxoplasmosis were prospected.It is concluded that ROPs play an important role during host cell invasion and they are potential candidates for the development of vaccines against toxoplasmosis.
