Nano-attapulgite was dispersed into sodium carboxymethyl cellulose matrix to get sodium carboxymethyl cellulose(CMC-Na) / attapulgite(AT) nanocomposites with different compositions.The effects of attapulgite content on the structure and properties of nanocomposites were invesitigated.The nanocomposites were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectra(FTIR),thermogravimetry(TG),scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and universal material testing machine.When the content of attapulgite is 0.22%,compared to sodium carboxymethyl cellulose,the mechanical properties of the sodium carboxymethyl cellulose / attapulgite nanocomposites were best.The FTIR characteristic peaks of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose and the morphology of nanocomposites were changed after introducing attapulgite.The thermostability of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose / attapulgite nanocomposites was better than that of the sodium carboxymethyl cellulose film.
