Objective To explore the best countermeasure of infected total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Methods From 1998 to 2008,5 cases patients with infection after TKAs were treated.Thorough debridement and effective antibiotic treatment were preseribed for 1 case,two-stage reimplantation for 4 case. Results 5 case were cured. All of the 6 patients were followed up,and on average for 46 months. No infection recurred.The function of knee recovered satisfiedly. Conclusion The effective management of infection after total knee arthroplasty includes thorough debridement,effective antibiotic treatment and two-stage reimplantation.But strengthening prophylaxis is still the best countermeasure.
